輸入品には、関税や消費税（酒の場合は酒税）などの税金が課せられます。なお、免税品の場合でも消費税がかかります。関税を支払う者は、原則として当該貨物の輸入者であり、通常は請求書の荷受人となります。実際には、通関業者は代理人による通関手続きを行い、一時的に輸入者の関税等を支払い、その後、貨物を引き渡した後、輸入者に当該費用と手数料を一律に請求します。
