A total of P350 million (M) in agricultural support and interventions were awarded to farmers’ associations and cooperatives of Pangasinan under the modernization and industrialization strategies of the “OneDA” reform agenda of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

0n July 22, 2021, Agriculture Secretary William Dar together with DA Region I Director Nestor Domenden handed over certificates of award for various farm machineries and equipment consists of a unit of combine harvester, four-wheel-drive tractors, and hand tractors for rice and corn production.

Additional assistance for vegetable growers, livestock raisers were also awarded, as well as livelihood assistance to fishers under the fish and salt production enhancement programs.

During the visit, Sec. Dar also led the groundbreaking of the P284M Inclusive Agribusiness Incubation Hub in Sual, which aims to promote sustainable innovations to boost diverse agro-industries, enhance productivity and profitability of the agri-fishery sector.

Once fully operational, the hub will showcase science-based technologies in agriculture. Aside from ensuring a stable and accessible food supply to all, the interventions and agri-fishery support aim to create opportunities for every Filipino and encourage the younger generation to take an interest in agriculture and fishery activities. (Photo by Alan Jay Jacalan, DA-AFID)
